#4 “How To Find God’s Calling in Our Life”.
If I eventually think that I've heard an answer from God, how can I be sure that it's not just my emotions or imagination?
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding Proverbs 3:5

If I eventually think that I've heard an answer from God, how can I be sure that it's not just my emotions or imagination?
In the book of Hebrews 11:1, faith is defined as follows: “Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.” Contrary to knowing for sure, the chief aspect of faith is having to walk it out to be sure. Only then you will know for sure. Stepping out of your comfort zone and stepping into the unknown can only be done in, with, and through faith. So yes, there is no guarantee. Having said that, seeking confirmation from God and laying out your fleece like Gideon are ways you can transition without having to jump into the deep end of the pool. Remember what was said earlier that God always chooses to partner with His creation. That is you. Being called always has something to do with the expansion of God’s Kingdom, His will in this world.
The act of finding God’s calling is not entirely passive. As a matter of fact, it is the opposite. Prayer precedes and runs concurrently with seeking confirmation. Don’t live the life of a robot. While your imagination is immensely powerful, and you should make use of it, it must not become your spiritual Achille’s heel. Anything that erects itself as the primary driver and thus turns into an idol is dangerous. But as long as one’s imagination is subordinate to God’s will, it is safe. Likewise with your emotions, which are also especially important. A confirmation may come in the form of conviction which will activate all parts of your being such as the mind (fear), the spirit (joy, emotions), and the body. All will culminate in a sense of deep trust.
Waiting on God’s peace has become synonymous with emotional calmness and therefore drawn critique. What is misunderstood here is that peace is not a result of the absence of conflict, the peace is that is derived from a person, (Isaiah 9:6). The Prince of Peace guarantees, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid (John 14:27).
