#5 How to hear God's voice quickly?

Welcome to my blog post entitled "Unveiling the Zeitgeist". This new 10-part series reveals the secrete of “Hearing God’s Voice in the Workplace”. People spend an average of 90,000 hours (or a third) of their life working. Given that we sleep an average of 229,961 hours during our lifetime, the workplace takes a significant part of our life. In a modern, fast-paced, time-consuming, and technologically driven lifestyle, does God still speaks to His people, or has He become irrelevant and silent? The answer is that God always speaks! Matter of fact, God has never stopped speaking to His people since the foundation of the world has formed. Hearing God’s voice is not only enriching and meaningful to steer our life, but it is also an overlooked and unexplored secret accessible to everyone. So, let’s explore together!

#5 How to hear God's voice quickly?

Proximity to hear God’s heartbeat: There is no shortcut in hearing God, I believe. Familiarity is key and that is a product of having spent enough time. The longer you spend time with someone you start to recognize not only the person’s voice but also the person’s style, preference, and value. Similarly, recognizing God’s voice comes from spending lots of time with Him.

Noise-canceling is another aspect. I love putting on my Bose Headphones on an airplane. It cancels all the surrounding noise from the airplane. If one’s thought life is consistently crowded with noise and chatter, it is challenging to hear God's voice. As for me, I hear God’s voice best when I swim or go for a run because my thought life becomes crystal clear during the exercises which are when I can hear God's voice clearly. God’s voice is to me, a crystal-clear thought paired with strong conviction over a situation. Early mornings, shortly after waking up, is yet another time when I hear God compared to late nights when my biological clock is already in a dormant mode or past bedtime. Lastly, do not ask me why but I can hear God when I am in the shower which is when I am in a relaxed state.

Let's pray together! Father God, I know some find it difficult to hear your voice. Many can't even subscribe to the concept. However, you are a person that longs to communicate have a friendship with your friends and kids. Help me spend time with you so that I become familiar with your voice. I like to carve out a time that is just reserved for you so see you soon in the quiet place! In Jesus' name, I pray.
